Wright back in Action!!
In an event that would surpass the rising of the Phoenix, the Wright Racing Team has amazingly completed construction of the team's latest addition, a Gearte powered Maxim that will be unleashed on the mighty Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway for round seven of the Coca Cola Track championship this coming Saturday Night the 18th of Nov.
In a week of construction that has seen parts arrive at the teams workshop with almost military precision, Andrew along with his dad Ray and Crew Chief Jason Oakes have spent many long hours carefully installing some new and some repaired componentry into the teams spare older Maxim Chassis to ready their return to Sprintcar Racing.
Entangled amongst Andrew's hunger to return to the fast side of the safety fence, is his unrelenting desire to pay tribute and thank his dedicated sponsors who have stuck with him and the team during the last rather tough few months. Along with all the people who enquired about his health and those that continue to pass on their support, there is only one way to really say thanks and that is to get that traditional “Wright Racing Livery” trackside & “Go Racing”
Dusting of the tried & tested Maxim chassis that the team has used in previous seasons, the knowledge they have as far as set up goes is handy to say the least. Like putting on an old pair of comfy slippers, the team know how to get the chassis / engine package hooked up and going forward.
With Andrew doing the engine maintenance in house, the distinctive tones of the Wright Racing Team's Gearte once again rocked the idealic Muswellbrook countryside as the much anticipated engine start was completed. “It's always a nice feeling when she fires first go” said a beaming Andrew as he sat strapped into the office for the first time in a long time.
It was a special time for all involved as the beast sat idling, the sense of fulfilment at the culmination of a lot of hard work, not only in the workshop but also at their everyday jobs. Many members of the Wright family have spent many hours chasing extra hours of work to top up the phenomenal support the team has received from their sponsors to ensure their obsession of sprintcar racing could continue and whilst proud of their earlier than expected return to racing, everyone associated with the team knows that the real job is now just beginning.
Andrew & the team have but one goal for this weekends race meeting and that's to be able to roll the car out of the trailer on Sunday in one piece. Having said that though, this certainly doesn't mean Andrew wont be shy when it comes to stomping on the loud pedal as he returns to action but more to the point its important that we concentrate on getting some laps completed and build some momentum toward the international shows that are knocking on the door over the Christmas / New-year period.
Now with the final touches being completed on the car, Andrew Wright will be back in business come Saturday night and I can assure you that race night will be a whole lot better with this hard charging Hunter Valley native driving as only he can. A steely determination to show his true worth to the teams sponsors and race fans alike has set the tone for race night - a race night that shouldn't be missed.
